Pricing

Priced by the space it takes, not by the hour

You should not have to call just to understand how a junk removal bill is put together. Here is exactly how it works — and why you see your number before anything is scheduled.

Junk Koala Dallas truck being loaded with a large mixed load

Junk removal is volume work. What a job costs comes down to how much room your load takes up in the truck once it has been loaded properly — not how long the crew was there, and not how many people came.

That has two useful consequences. The first is that a job can be quoted from photographs, because you can see volume in a picture in a way you cannot see hours. The second is that the price is settled before the work starts rather than after it, which is the part that matters when somebody is standing in your driveway.

Why not hourly?

Hourly pricing puts you and the crew on opposite sides. You want them to hurry; they have no reason to. Worse, you cannot know the cost until it is over, which is exactly when you have the least leverage to do anything about it.

Volume pricing removes that. The load is the load, and the fact that a good crew clears a garage in ninety minutes rather than four hours is their problem to be good at, not your bill to absorb.

What your estimate accounts for

  • The volume your load takes in the truck
  • The weight, where the material is dense
  • Disposal fees on specific item types
  • Labor, including stairs and long carries
  • Dismantling where something has to come apart
  • Special handling where an item requires it

All of it is reflected in the number you see before you confirm. Nothing on this list is added afterwards.

Load sizes

How a load is described

Junk removal is measured in fractions of a truck. These are the sizes a job gets quoted against.

Single item

One couch, one fridge, one treadmill. The most common booking we run.

Minimum load

A few items together — the smallest job a truck and crew are dispatched for.

1/8 load

A small bedroom's worth, or a modest curbside pile.

1/4 load

A packed single room, or a sizeable furniture pickup.

1/3 load

A small garage, or a room plus its contents.

1/2 load

A standard two-car garage cleared, or a small apartment.

3/4 load

A larger garage plus a room, or a well-filled unit.

Full load

The truck packed properly — a whole house usually needs more than one.

These describe scale rather than set a price. Your actual figure comes from the Junk Koala booking system, which prices your specific items, volume and access — and shows it to you before you confirm anything.

Getting a number

Two ways to find out what it costs

Neither of them requires a site visit or a phone call you have to wait for.

    Or go straight to booking

The booking flow prices as you build the job, so you see it live.

Choose a window and confirm. The price is set at that point.

FAQ

Questions Dallas customers ask

Why don't you publish prices on this page?

Because the number that matters is the one you are actually quoted, and that comes from the Junk Koala booking system based on your items, your volume and your access. Publishing an indicative figure here would only create a second, less accurate price — so instead the flow shows you the real one before you commit.

Is it cheaper if the crew works quickly?

No, and that is deliberate. Pricing is by volume rather than by the hour, so a fast crew does not cost you more and a slow one does not cost you less. It also means the estimate can be given in advance rather than depending on how the day goes.

What makes a job cost more than the volume suggests?

Four things, mainly: heavy material such as concrete, tile or soil that hits a truck's weight limit before it fills the space; items with a specific disposal fee, like refrigerant appliances and some televisions; long or difficult carries such as a third-floor walk-up; and anything needing dismantling before it can be moved.

Do I pay anything to get an estimate?

No. Estimates from photos are free and there is no obligation to book after receiving one.

Is there a minimum charge?

Yes. A truck and crew still have to make the trip for a single item, so there is a minimum below which a job cannot be priced. It is shown in the booking flow before you confirm.

When do I pay?

Payment is handled through the Junk Koala booking system as part of confirming your job. The whole flow, including payment, runs inside this site.
